B40: Russian hacker gets sentenced … or does he?

default — by TDavid @ 3:34 am PST

It’s not been a good week for Aleksey V. Ivanov — or has it? (story: Russian Computer Hacker Gets 4-Year Term) Isanov, 23, of Chelyabinsk, Russia pled guilty in August 2002 to conspiracy, computer hacking, computer fraud, credit card fraud, wire fraud and extortion. So is *4* years acceptable punishmment for this? Dude was hacking banks, e-commerce sites and then demanding money for him not going public with his actions. I guess maybe there are different kinds of computer classes taught in Chelyabinsk. While the other kids are learning things like how to bake brownies and fold their shirts guys like Isanov are figuring out how to backdoor banks. Nice.

B39: Porn mogul issued $77 citation for selling body lotion and body piercing jewelery

default — by TDavid @ 3:12 am PST

Huh? No, really! So this guy owns an adult store and he can’t sell body lotion or jewelry for body piercing? Tell me that it is getting late (or early) and I just didn’t get this story

“We’re not singling out Penthouse Boutique. Every business is subjected to the same permitting process. They can blame the city, but some one on their staff didn’t do their job.”

Ok, so what’s next, fines for selling vasaline? I get the feeling if somebody breaks out the horny goat weed, they’ll be bringing in SWAT.

B38: Blogathon 2003 Sponsor - Cyberwurx hosting

default — by TDavid @ 2:50 am PST

I don’t know that I can say enough good things about my experience doing busines with Cyberwurx hosting, but let me try to give these guys the monster props they deserve. Conepuppy (Chris) has been an absolute pleasure to do business for years! Whenever I’ve needed anything he, Jen or their very able staff: Jeremiah, Greg are always there for us. They’ve hosted our site Script School since the beginning and done a masterful job.

I remember when we were first getting Script School off the ground and doing the first PHP course and some students were asking about a test environment. Chris stepped up and offered an entire dedicated server for students — at no charge!

Recently we had to setup an IRC server. I picked up the phone and within minutes we had the IRC server!

They do virtual hosting, dedicated hosting, they have packages that will meet your needs. If you don’t see something that you want, or have special needs, just pick up the phone and call them toll free: 1-888-874-4592. Check out this dedicated server package:

350 gigs data transfer
1.7 ghz
512 MB RAM
40 GB Hard Drive
8 IPs
Un-managed
Free Reboots
RedHat Linux 7.3
FREE SETUP!

$95/month!

If you are thinking of expanding, then get your next box with Cyberwurx. Tell Chris that TDavid sent you. They do domain registration through CWNIC and give special rates to client for new domains. It’s a snap. Pick up the phone and you’ll be glad you did.

B37: Hells Bells

default — by TDavid @ 2:17 am PST

Whenever I think of midnight, I think of AC DC and the song Hells Bells. The bong … bong … bong … of midnight and the beginning that song resonates here.

Thanks to JaYMan from Netpond who recently sponsored me in the Blogathon 2003 …

I tell you, this final 6 hours has been what I’ve been worried about so please consider dumping some coins out of those piggy banks and sponsoring me for the ASACP cause. As you can see from the picture here, I could probably use a nap … but not! Denied!

B36: Memories

default — by TDavid @ 1:43 am PST

Whew! It’s burning up in here now that I turned on the 500 watt halogen. If I fall asleep, this place will burn down … but the flipside is you can actually see what’s going on in the room now in the webcam ;)

Now since this has sort of become the Kara hour as she’s having a late dinner with me I thought I would share some pleasant memories I have of us together.

- that night we spent together Canada for the Halloween Party where my brother in law was drinking out of the bar-noculars. 4th of July in October. Only in Canada! :) - bowling! I know that some folks make fun of this “sport” but didn’t we used to just kick it and have the greatest time doing that? Why did we stop? I know, I know … work! We should get in another league. - going to the used book store and picking out books to read together. I don’t know why I stopped reading fiction like I used to. Been a long time since I’ve tore into a good fiction novel and it was extra special when we read together. - laying on the couch watching movies together
Of course I have lots of memories of your smile. Your smile means everything is great :)

B35: to and for my lovely wife

default — by TDavid @ 1:22 am PST

This blog entry is for my lovely wife Kara for whom without her, well, I would be just a geek with a keyboard. With her I’m still a geek with a keyboard, but that’s another story.

Kara used to work for me at KFC when I was 18. I was an assistant manager there for a brief period while I was helping my mom out who was pregnant with my twin brother and sister. Kara was a model employee and the store manager got really mad at me when he found out that I was dating her. I guess the guy who worked there before me was partying with all the help, but I was just interested in one girl — Kara.

She says she always enjoyed it when I wrote things to her and that as we’ve gotten older and grown in our relationship I don’t write things as much any more. This will be our 14th anniversary this September and it was important to me in this 24 hour Blogathon to reflect on and thank kara for giving me a wonderful family and making me whole. We have three darling, healthy boys. So thank you, Kara, I love you with all my heart and can’t think of anybody else I’d rather grow old with than you.

B34: ‘amateurs’ & pros

default — by TDavid @ 12:48 am PST

14 entries, 7 1/2 hours, left to go … we’re now inching into graveyard hours!

I’ve talked about this on my radio show several times before but I’m kind of confused about the term: amateur as it relates to adult sites. If we go by the dictionary term and amateur is as follows:

  1. A person who engages in an art, science, study, or athletic activity as a pastime rather than as a profession.
  2. Sports. An athlete who has never accepted money, or who accepts money under restrictions specified by a regulatory body, for participating in a competition.
  3. One lacking the skill of a professional, as in an art.

I suppose under item #3 a full-time amateur could fall. I don’t know though about those who go out and get fake boobs and then pro photographers to do everything if they still truly fall under the classification of amateur. I’m thinking that amateur is like the part time husband/wife, girlfriend/boyfriend, the single mom, etc. It’s been something that makes me go hmm. You?

B33: Guns N Roses, now we’re talking

music — by TDavid @ 12:08 am PST

Gina brings up an interesting acoustic cover of November Rain by Guns ’N Roses at crushing krisis. Peter is scheduled to come onto the radio show at 4am PST / 7am ET, and it is possible we’ll hear something live from him then!

Speaking of Guns ‘N Roses? What exactly happened to them? They came out with an incredible first album, then took forever to follow it up. And when they released a follow-up it was a 2 CD set, and then they broke up. AXL was doing a few shows with not the original band but him and Duff, I think. Chinese Democracy, the new CD, has been in the coming soon mode for some time. Smells like a possible Van Halen situation here.

And since it is 10pm, it is time for me to change my shirt again! 8 hours ago I changed from Miami Vice mode to casino Club Aladdin. Now it’s time for my R.E.O Speedwagon Concert shirt. Pictures at eleven (I’ve always wanted to use that cliche’)

B32: Wishing.com thank you, Netpond webmasters welcome

default — by TDavid @ 11:32 pm PST

I’m seeing hits in the referrers from <a href=”http://www.netpond.com”>Netpond</a> also, so welcome to the blogathon for ASACP Netpond! :)

Todd, thank you for the donation from wishing.com, mon! Much respect! Todd was one of the first guests on the Script School radio show, way back on show #3 on Friday June 23, 2000 and we talked then about the future of teledildonics.

I hope those that are up at 4am PST will be calling in to the radio show to reminisce about the adult industry. You know who you all are. So much has happened, but this is an opportunity to show folks that there are a lot of GOOD folks in the adult business. It’s not just thugs and crooks and the sterotypes that exist out there. We can make a difference!

You can sponsor me here in this 24 hour blogathon and all donations will go directly to ASACP I know I’m burning the midnight oil for a great cause!

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you
