Compare your Digg stats to others

Humor, linkdump — by TDavid @ 10:07 am PST

Brian Shaler’s DiggStatus compares your digg user account to the aggregate of all Digg users in the following areas. DiggStatus was built using PHP, MySQL, Flash, and XML.

The comments in italics are generated from the system about my digg account:

- digg account age: “Looks like you joined Digg while it was still young.”
- total stories dugg
- stories dugg per month
- total stories commented on: “Either you’re new to Digg or you’re too much of a coward to voice your opinion in the comments.”
- comments per month
- total stories submitted
- stories submitted per month
- stories promoted to the front page: “Stop wasting your time browsing profiles on MySpace and find an interesting story for the Diggnation to read!”
- profile views
- friends
- people that have befriended this user: “:-( Nobody Likes you. Not even me. Now get out of my face, loser.” LOL! I had two friends that generated this response and juar made sure to add those two people as my friends. Will it cause me to escape loserdom in this tool’s eyes? Probably not, life goes on ;)

Brian’s no stranger to making Digg Flash tools. His list shows he’s also made: Wheel of Upcoming Stories, Digg Heat Map, Digg Radar, Digg Taggr, Mapping the Digg Community and No Comment Digg RSS Feeds.

I don’t use Digg much any more but I can see more active Digg users enjoying these tools. Nice work, Brian.

Throw the stick man downstairs, more pain, more points

Humor, gaming — by TDavid @ 2:28 pm PST

Stair Fall game

More fun than a stress ball? A little on the violent side, but Stair Fall has game. Bring the stick man the most pain on the stairs for big points. My best score is displayed above and was achieved by moving the mouse up and slightly to the left to bring the stick man tumbling nearly the full length of the stairs.

Unfortunately when tested Stair Fall will not work as one of the Wii browser games, so no Wiimote stick man suicide action yet.

sexy name generator for K.A.R.A

Sure, Valentine’s Day has passed, but might as well bookmark the sexy name decoder for next February 14 when Cupid’s arrows strikes in your love life.

I’ve added this to the growing list of online generators.

Mad Magazine free downloads: Pirates and Fantastic Four with white house players

Humor, politics, movies — by TDavid @ 6:38 am PST

Mad Magazine desktop wallpaper downloads

My favorite non-tech magazine growing up was Mad Magazine. The spoofs on tv shows and movies are legendary. It’s good to see their humor is still as zany as ever. With Pirates of the Constitution, your desktop may never be the same. Mad also offers a Fanatic Four download. It’s still too bad Mad isn’t available digitally, but maybe they are recycling.

What board games do you own? I looked through a list of ours today and was surprised at what I ’saw’.

I’ll never look at a spatula and spices around the barbecue the same way again.

While my ukulele gently weeps for fake beer for kids

video, Humor, music — by TDavid @ 7:48 am PST

This fake beer for kids TV in Japan commercial reminds me of those fake gum cigarettes I used to buy as a kid. You know, they had powered sugar in them and they would blow out “smoke.”

I keep laughing over the music and children’s expressions here. TV in Japan rocks! Unlike the last one and being that it’s a commercial hopefully YouTube will keep this one up.

On a musical note, While My Guitar Gently Weeps is one of my favorite Beatles tunes and must admit that I’d never heard it played on ukulele before until the video below. Impressed by Jake Shimabukuro’s mad ukulele skills? I was.

Jake makes it sound like he’s playing a 12 string guitar and yet the ukulele only has four strings.

Pac Map of country flags by colors

Humor, photoshop it, gaming — by TDavid @ 6:56 am PST

pie chart showing flags by colors

This intriguing Flags by Colours breakdown of country flags by colors has some countries looking like different colored Pac-Man. To toggle on and off the actual flag, just click on the pac, er, pie chart. The list is sorted alphabetically so looking at the screenshot above it should be easy to pick out the United States.

If Tunisia were yellow, it would be Pac-Man. Nieu without the other colors could also be a good pill chomper. Bhutan is multi-colored. Bahrain and Georgia look like Pac-man was just chomped.

Sure I’m biased, it’s Memorial Day — and it doesn’t have much Pac power comparatively — but I prefer American flag the best. The United Kingdom flag looks cool too. Which flag design do you like best?
