One practice I follow is to summarize the key point of the linked post in my post. That way the sense isn't lost even if the link rots. I just moved my main blog to Word Press from Typepad, but I am going to keep the Typepad blog up for at least a year to avoid breaking links. Thanks for the info about the plug-in.
