Oh crap, I am a SU junkie. I annoy my friends and family endlessly with things that make me laugh until I cry. And I just mentioned in my last comment that I have insomnia…..it’s all falling into place!!!!

On a more serious note, I was unaware of their paid advertising. That could be tricky because it would have to fall into enough people’s listed criteria for it to be worth it. So someone like me, who has Humor, Vegan, and Alcoholic Beverages as their interests, there isn’t a huge chance of my coming across something that has paid advertising. But most people probably have a wider range of interests than I do on SU, and it must be worth it or else they wouldn’t be doing it….

Ted - I’m aware that some of the stumbles are paid for, but having not increased the frequency of stumbling it made me curious if they changed the threshold for this popup to appear? As for the bounce rate? I don’t know how good an ad platform SU would be frankly. Speaking purely for myself, I’m not going there looking to buy anything. I’m looking for neat things to find/explore/share. Yes, that could be a commercial product and I could become interested in buying something, but that’s not what I have ever used SU for.

I probably wouldn’t advertise buying anything at SU unless it was something that would fit the narrow criteria I described above.

I have never seen that come up before, but I’ve been on the other side of it.

I did some advertising of a site on SU, you pay about .05 cents per click, and let me tell you, there is like a 98% bounce rate with stumble upon. People never stay for anything. This isn’t really a bad thing, but I can see why SU would want you to slow down, especially if they are trying to make ad revenue.
