I agree, how can you buy a guitar like that and not play it? I bought a Les Paul Studio a few years ago and my friends and family saw neither hide nor hair from me for days. I dove right in and made love to it. Mine isn't as pretty as yours, but it's still a Les Paul and I love it.

I gotta say , I only stumbled upon this page while looking for a guitar related picture of something, but the picture prompted me to read in a bit.

Regarding your new Les Paul and casing it away for gigs only. That is just nutty to me.
Guitars all have different personalities, as far as feel and sound and quality... if your going to gig with it, you should practice with it and "get to know" its personality. Becoming use to its "feel" and enjoy its "quality". Its somewhat foolish to to play live on a guitar you never play. It may not be as comfortable as what you play daily, simply because you are not used to it. So get used to it. And don't be afraid of playing it for fear of ruining this or that or wear and tear, just become better at taking care of your guitars. Wipe it down after each time playing, always put it back in the case, etc.

I mean you wouldn't go out and pick up the hottest chick you ever met and bring her home only to put her in the closet.. get in bed with your new guitar.. meaning PLAY IT DAMN IT. ;)

Ouch, i love the guitar but haven't played as much as used to and I sypathise with you. It doesn't take long for those callouses to disappear once you stop playing but it also does not take long to rebuild them. Lovely guitars BTW

Nice calisus mate. Can remember when I was doing nightly solo gigs with alot of lead improv and was bending strings on a steal string acoustic, man that hurt. Love the gibson, am thinking about an epiphone myself, but these guitars are ment to be played.

Thanks FranciscoIV. Yeah, maybe not an income generating thing, but I enjoy playing. I enjoy writing more, so I'm sure the break will be more like a brief time away to cool the engines.

Matt - it worked this morning, I'm in.

Weird - Looks like it works for me, though oddly the title is not showing up right away in Google Reader (not the first time that has happened with one of my blogs...)
