I believe it is just a small group of users who want this substance to be legalised.
Smoking pot can cause psychosis in people, it also can lead to hard drug use.
These in turn do not enhance a persons ability for productive work and do add to crime statistics through theft and violent assault.
I need not mention that the cost to the public health service in using these drugs is exorbitant, this includes alcohol and tobacco of course.
One thing I do agree with you though is the need to aggressively tax these things.

They're more concerned about all the cops and corrections officers that would be rendered useless in suburban areas.

The amount of young adults sitting in holding blocks waiting for bail around here because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time is unbelievable.

I would love to know the percentage of people on probation who are being punished for possession of under an ounce.

Taxing and regulating may work for gambling but not for marijuana. Marijuana is easy to grow and non-addictive unlike alcohol or tobacco which makes huge revenue greatly due to those factors only. There would be very little money in legalization, regulation, or decriminalization for the government. Perhaps save some on prison numbers. Sure if I could buy top quality herb from the local convenience for a cheap price I would. The price of weed has not changed here for the 40 years I been smoking because its run by the people for the people - not government gluttony. I say no thanks I`ll take care of my own herbs thanks.

As for smoking with asthma try a vaporizer might help. I would not be suffering if there was something out there that may help. Don`t let others dictate how you feel.
