The first site today to remind me it’s Valentine’s Day was Google Docs with a pink template (see right)

Mashable rounds up some Valentine’s day logos from: Y!, The Pirate’s Bay, Ask.com, AOL, Friendfeed and keeping with tradition Google heartening their search logo. I pondered tweaking the Hmm logo but that seems cliched (Update 8:04am PST: changed my mind and did a rough Valentine’s hack job to the logo, see homepage).

Speaking of Mashable, they are going to run a contest at HubPages to challenge your heart and mind writing HubLove pages on a daily topic starting February 18. What are HubPages? (emphasis mine)

HubPages is a site where you can easily create your very own wiki-like pages (what we call Hubs) on anything you know well and love. Share detailed information and advice, and easily add relevant pictures, YouTube videos, links and news feeds. You even earn ongoing royalties through the ads automatically delivered on your Hubs.

This could be fun, so I registered for HubPages. That link is tagged with my referral code, so I’d earn 10% for lifetime off the activity of your created HubPages. This would not cut into your 60% ad income, it comes out of the 40% that HubPages keeps for hosting and providing the service, so no reason not to share the love.

MikeDoe.net comedically offers a 10-step emergency plan which includes such heart-piercing gems as: "Get to the drug store and buy a card!" and "Forget the flowers." Nice use of the middle finger picture, but no angst here.

In Twitter you can send love by typing @name <3 which then shows up in the message area like this:

This: valentines-twitter-flirt

Turns into: valentines-twitter

But my wife isn’t on Twitter, so I’ll have to watch others sharing the Twitter love. While on the subject of text messages MasterMaq’s Blog shares some stats via Gizmodo on text messaging popularity:

According to AT&T, Valentine’s Day is the most popular holiday for text messaging. Evidently there’s a 33% spike in texting traffic! That’s a lot of text messages.

5:30am here as of this writing and I’m still a V-day dog. Looking at prior Hmm Valentine’s Day posts for help like last year’s 14 last minute Valentine’s Day internet gifts as well as advice in my reading list. I need to get it together and do something or the style.com list of top 10 sex positions will not be of any use tonight.
