I am a proud owner of a psp-1000. I can watch movies, hear music, browse the web, serve as an electronic photo album, and even play my favorite games. And when I heard that sony was introducing Skype I was even more thrilled. My brother then bought his first psp, which was (psp-2000) and bragged about skype and how it was a cool feat. and all, but when came to realize that it wasn’t compatible for psp-1000. and it sucked alittle. But it has not persuaded and ounce in me to go forth and purchase a new psp…for what. Honestly I really dont like the slimmer look and feel for the psp-2000,….it feels to much of a toy or a fake psp.lol. Also my brother dropped his psp-2000 and already the casing came out of place……cheap or what!Sony is going to have to do better than that….IS THAT ALL YOU GOT SONY!,…lol.

P.S. I ALREADY HAVE A CELL PHONE, DONT NEED SKYPE!

I own the PSP 1000 series and I think personally that the Skype feature/TV-Out feautre is not enough to warrant me to purchase it’s slimmer brother. Firstly PSP-1000 are far superior to PSP-2000s for homebrew due to the fact that they can support the 1.5 kernel (There are patches for PSP-2000s but I never got them to work). Secondly, I perfer the fatter model than the shape of the new PSPs, but that could be just because of years of being used to the old design.

P.S. The lack of Skype is not because of lack of RAM but because of lack of space in flash0.

I bought my PSP-1000 only a few months before the new slim, sleek, sexy PSP-2000 came out. I didn’t really care that much when this happened until I found out about Skype. It’s just a damn cool program and I was really jazzed about turning my PSP into a “communication device”. Needless to say I went from excited to disappointed pretty damn fast. I don’t know if a lack of Skype is reason enough to buy a new PSP. Maybe when the new features for the PSP-2000 start piling up I’ll finally be galvanized to buy a new PSP.

Agreed. There needs to be more updates for functionality with the ps3. I’m just not giving in to buying a slim psp ‘cos I don’t want to give Sony more cash, and anyway my ceramic white psp was one of the first in the country. But yeah I can live without Skype on my psp, that also means I don’t have to buy any more addons like a mic or the psp camera (if thats compatible..)

I think sony are douche bags. the last decent update for the psp 1000 series was the internet radio that came out back in DEC. or january….we are getting shafted…as far as decent updates worth our time is down the crapper. don’t buy a psp 2000 because do you really need it…ooo skype yeah thats cool and all but you can live with out it.
