So now that its out, what is everyones opinion. The movie was a hit, and I can't imagine anyone fitting the role better than robert downey jr. Im excited to see the next one. Although the first will be tough to beat. Easily the best marvel movie.

Can't speak for others, but Iron Man was my favorite comic book when I was growing up, followed closely by Incredible Hulk and The Fantastic Four, so I'm totally jazzed for Iron Man. I'd say it's a coin toss at best to whether they are going to be able to pull off Iron Man or not, but if they do, it will be one of the movies to see next year.

They keep talking about making less blockbuster movies with special effects which means this might be the biggest budget ever for an Iron Man film in my lifetime anyway. I hope they do it right.

I can agree with that...to a certain extent.

The problem you have there is that Iron Man is not a character that people are naturally clamoring to see and the studios feel they have to have some sort of recognizable cast to make it work.
Xmen, Superman, Batman and Spiderman already had a built in audience where they could take a chance on lesser know faces.

I would say that I'm a little more familiar with comics than the average moviegoer and I know nothing about Iron Man.
The only reason I have a remote interest in Iron Man right now is because Downey is in it.

Of the other hand, that was the my reason for not seeing Ghost Rider as I have disliked Cage in almost everything he has done lately.
So I can certainly see your point as a valid one.

Wasn't comparing Downey to Affleck, was comparing whether Affleck was a good superhero. Frankly, I think unknowns work better for superheroes because that's what we expect them to be like Toby Maguire.

I have no problem with Downey.

Comparing him to Affleck is like comparing Wal-Mart to Macy's though.

Sure more people might shop at Wal-mart but the quality if so much better as Macy's.
