Gruvr shows live concerts in your surrounding area |
Gruvy is a handy music/maps mashup for those in an area served by Google Maps that shows concert dates around an area using the Google maps API.

Upon page load it checked my IP and found I was in Puyallup and offered suggestions in an eight mile radius. I expanded to 50 miles and that’s what shows in the screenshot above. Lots of live music entertainment options. I love listening to live music.
Fires in southern California
On a serious note, the LA Times has compiled a list of fires in Southern California. Hope if any readers are down in that area that everything is alright. We’re thinking of you up here in the Seattle area and hoping some of our rain gets down your direction.
More maps mashups
Found both these mashups on John Musser’s excellent Programmable Web. Looks like the most popular tag is Maps mashups with 1,382 as of this writing. I met John at Search Champs v4 last year. Nice guy, good site, well worth a bookmark.

Hmmmmmmmm
Awesummmmm! thanks!
Did you see what else it does - tell it bands you like and it tells you
when they come to town…

If so then too bad no linklove, Jim. That shouldn’t surprise me with Mashable as they’ve done some funky things with this site before.

Gruvr isn’t especially discriminating - it picks up all sorts of Philly shows from local people (like us) who are just planning to head out to an open mic. A cool feature for the local musicians of the world, but probably not the content most users are seeking.
