Walk Score 69, how’s yours? |

Perhaps my timing sucks or this is a really popular online application, but a couple different times I attempted to check the Walk Score in our area, the service errors out with messages like the one pictured above.
The Walk Score:
… helps people find walkable places to live. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc.
We live very close to a trail and within walking distance to both our offices just off the main street in town. Recently, we’ve been doing more biking since my wife and I bought bikes.
Try. Service. Again. Once more before publishing and woohoo! Everything finally worked.
The Walk Score where we live is 69 out of 100. That didn’t seem very good or realistic until being compared that against Bill Gates house which scores a miserable 6 out of 100.

No need to feel for Bill, he can do plenty of walking around his home, and a chopper or limo to any services he needs.
Our score isn’t as good as the Brady Bunch house which boasts an 80 walk score. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!
How does your home fare?

Mine was a 12!!!! I am in a new neighborhood and you have to drive to everything (road ends 1/4 mile west of me)… Of course we have lots of nice clean new sidewalks and houses so just walking in the hood is quite nice.

Hey, that’s better than Bill’s house, FranciscoIV.

80, higher than I thought it’d be. However, I live in a very hilly area so trekking anywhere is quite the exercise, instead of a relaxing, easy stroll.

I believe that walk score is cool, but nowadays more and more people prefer to drive cars. Homes are often located in an area where some establishments are easier to get to by car than on foot. I’ve recently found a type of service on drivescore.fizber.com which is called Drive Score. It shows a map of what establishments are in your neighborhood and calculates a Drive Score based on the number of places within a convenient driving distance.

My walk score is 22… I was rather upset with it. And I was surprised to know that there is another score called drive score (see signature link) to evaluate my house. I’ve got much better results – 44.
