Oh, I've had the 1080p bug myself for some time now. Unfortunately, the old wallet is not quite fat enough yet. However, I have done a great deal of research and I would, hands-down, recommend Samsung as the best HDTV for the money. Some of their models beat out Sony's in the reviews I've read, but they still have a lower price. Great article by-the-way. There's nothing better than a full review from an individual owner. Excellent pics too. I will definitely point out some of your articles to my readers.

Just checked out that Sony LCD of yours, Matt. Nice! Sony makes some great looking (and usually pricey) hardware. When you going to make the plunge and get an HD-DVD + Xbox 360 Elite or PS3? August 1, the HD-DVD drive add-on for the Xbox 360 is going down to $179.

I just got a 1080p Samsung 40" TV too. Different model - UK specific, I think. It's fabulous.

I've got a Media Centre PC plugged into it that does a pretty good job of upscaling regular TV. Also, a Sky satellite HD box which is good, although it doesn't use the full 1080p, just 720p or 1080i. Still, looks great. Finally, I got an Arcam DV137 upscaling DVD player which outputs at 1080p. For some DVDs, Lord of the Rings being a really good example, it does an awesome job. Actually looks as good as an HD movie on the satellite box. Other DVDs, not so much. I don't have a PS3, just a Wii but it displays that well enough. The big surprise for me was how important surround sound is. That's the other 'high definition' in HD TV. Also - big tip - the Logitech range of programmable remote controls mean that I have one remote, not five. A big win.

I've got another 1,000 words to write today but now you've made me want to go and watch TV :)

I've got the 1080p bug as well.....no hardware at this point to actually see 1080p yet, but I do love my TV. Got a 40" Sony Bravia back in March.

Bought an upconverting Sony DVD player at the same time.....haven't made the trip yet to pick up the HDMI cable yet......but even still, everything looks sharp on this television. Love it.
