Edmunds True Cost to Own Your Car generator

According to Edmunds the true cost to own our 2005 Saturn Relay over 5 years will be $41,993. You can use their tool to check the true cost of owning your car as well as compare to other new models you are considering purchasing.

Update on our adventure to find and buy a $10,000 new car: still looking. We’re still open to suggestions if anybody has them in the comments.

  1. Interesting tool but it would be a little more useful if it went back further than 2003. Sorry to be poor but I have a 2001. :-)

  2. Well, it’s intended for research for buying a new car (or buying a used car that’s only a few years old) so you can compare the costs and figure out which to buy. Buying used older than 4 or 5 years probably doesn’t have as big differences in cost between them (?)

Just guessing on this one. Kelly blue book will give you value on your older car but not the other associated costs.
