Men are no less chatty than women. It's just a perception conceived as the female vocal tends to be slightly higher hence seemed to go on and on while the men has a deeper vocal that sometimes dipped so low it seemed they paused. But from experience, I think some men just can't shut it.

Depending on the subject I could be just as chatty as a woman. I think men can be, but the difference I've noticed is that men usually come to the point quicker and more directly. The word count in this study looks to be close, but I'd almost be willing to bet some $ that the men covered more ground and came up with more solutions. In my experience women generally like to express more about how they feel about the situation. Where generally men feel they have to come up with a "fix it" solution to what the women are expressing.

I'm still learning, but I often feel like coming up with a quick solution - to what seems like a plea for a solution to a story my wife may tell. Where she really just wants to express her view of the story. At first it was hard, but I have learned to take a few moments after what she says, and just repeat her feelings back to her rather than having a fix. Lord knows I have very few answers to life's questions anyways! This often results in a great peaceful and more of a 'oneness' time together following the conversation. For me, I just need to listen.

Other commenter's: Please notice the italics and quotes around my words. I'm not bashing one sex or the other. It's just been the perception of my experiences.
