Wrestler strangles wife, smothers son the next day, hangs himself |
I watched wrestling a little bit in my younger days. Playboy Buddy Rose, Andre The Giant, Rowdy Piper and others. One of things I liked about TBS out of Atlanta was Mean Gene and wrestling but I never got into it in a big way like some folks. Nowhere near like I’m interested in the “real” sports like the NFL and MLB. Still, I appreciate the entertainment value that wrestling brings.
But when it becomes real like the situation with Chris Benoit it’s scary.

The disturbing details of WWE wrestler Chris Benoit involved in a murder suicide and questioning if these crimes were the result of roid rage.
The 40-year-old champion strangled his wife, Nancy Benoit, and suffocated his 7-year-old son Daniel, authorities said, before he hanged himself on a portable weight machine inside his lavish home outside Atlanta … authorities suspect “that [Daniel] had been taking growth hormones for quite some time,” and are hoping to prove that with toxicology. The boy, Ballard said, was diagnosed with a form of dwarfism.
The part about this story that bothers me the most is the 7-year old son being allegedly injected with growth hormones. At 7 years old taking growth hormones? Is that what doctors prescribe for dwarfism for a 7 year old? Seems kind of young to be shooting the kid up at home.
Bibles were left next to the bodies.
The Howard Sterns kicked off this morning discussing the incident. The crew pondered why the WWE would be running out a tribute of Benoit’s wrestling career before the details of what investigators learned. WWE leader Vince McMahon called the incident a “tragedy” in a follow-up response, adding (emphasis mine):
… now some 26 hours later, the facts of this horrific tragedy are now apparent. Therefore, other than my comments, there will be no mention of Mr. Benoit tonight. On the contrary, tonight’s show will be dedicated to everyone who has been affected by this terrible incident. This evening marks the first step of the healing process.”
Wrestling might be fake, but this is real. Real sad.

1. Many are questing that he went on a roid rage since he wacked his wife on saturday, kid on sunday and himself on monday, talk about a long trip!
2. Benoit was never religous in anyways according to other wrestlers but it started last summer or if it was earlier, guess he snapped when Eddie (also a wrestler) died last year (Heartproblem).
It is way, way sad to see this happen to Benoit and his family.
Hope WWE will really clear up there wellness program that they started last year after Eddies death (Heartproblem came due to drugs earlier in his life).
Else Wrestling is fun and entertaining to watch and i hope no more wrestlers dies like this!

Thats a good comment but latest updates show that Chris Benoit suffered from Dimensia and severe depression due to multiple blows to the head during his carreer. His brain they ran tests on and found his brain to be that of an 85 year old man with altzeimers. I watched his carreer from beginning to end. All the way down to his bootleg tapes from Japan. All the way to the most recent. It was like I felt connected in some way by watching his facial expressions. From full of energy all the way down to depressed and lingering. His emotional depression was written over his face and noone paid attention except his father and family. Some fans and friends noticed. A wrestler is like a soldier. they fight and fight everyday of everymoment then burn out. Not to mention Vince McMahon’s comments were as follows “If the facts of the tests were true then by any means he would not beable to get to work”. I say not true. Chris Benoit had a shauffer and a valet if I remember right. So he didn’t really do it on his own esteem. So needless to say its almost like they want to avoid any possibility that Chris Benoit was not himself period nor in the frame of mind at the time that happened. He was probably not aware that he did it till it was too late. Read a psychology book sometime and look up Altzeimers and Dimensia. I’ve seen many Altzeimers patients. There body is there but the mind is vacant reliving a memory of their lives. I know what happened or should I say I know what the media speculates and says but it never means its the fact. Above I put a link above to a video aired by CBC. I think people should watch and really pay attention. As for Chris Benoit I know I will always be his fan no matter what and always respect and have a place in my heart for Daniel and Nancy Benoit. My heart goes out to his father, mother and sister. Always and forever I choose to remember all that was good and great about Chris. And to other fans may we never forget him even though the WWE erased him I for one will remember Chris Benoit the man that made me beleive all dreams do come true.
