Halo 3 Zune from Gamestop |
Halo 3 is hitting store shelves September 25, 2007. Limited beta testing for those who own (or have rented) the game Crackdown starts today and will last a couple weeks.

Learned via email this morning that a new special edition Zune coming out June 15 and Gamestop is taking preorders for $249.99.
Long time readers already know I’m not among the Zune bashing crowd. On launch day I bought the brown Zune and was willing to give it a chance. I liked it and while I don’t have an active Zune pass any more (just canceled last month), I still like it. Still don’t listen to it very much though, but I didn’t listen to my wife’s iPod either. Most of the time I listen to music I’m either in the car listening to MP3 (our car plays CDs with mp3 on them) or in front of my computer listening to iTunes or Zune through the Windows. I don’t care for earbuds or headphones from a comfort standpoint and also convenience because I need to use the phone here and there. So a portable device — any portable device — isn’t going to get much usage from me. As a portable device goes the Zune does most things I’d like it to do.
Do I wish the Zune had games on it like the iPod 5G? Sure. Do I think the whole “squirting” tunes thing is lame? Yes. I also think it’s a little strange that Microsoft is making a Halo 3 special edition Zune when they don’t have games on the Zune, but special editions, colors, shapes and sizes and have been a marketing boom for other portable device companies (Gameboy, iPod).
Would be nice to see some sort of Zune and Xbox 360 interaction beyond a special edition style.

Just face it. The Zune is lame. I mean, it sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself it’s not even though the last paragraph basically explains why it is.
The Halo edition Zune? Pretty stupid marketing if you ask me. It’s like if you put the Final Fantasy logo on a mop. What the hell does it have to do with anything? It doesn’t. Let me repeat. L-A-M-E.

Why do you think the Zune is lame, really? It fits my portable device needs which means it isnt lame to me and that is all that matters. I could care less if I\’m 1 in a 100 who like it. It\’s not a fashion statement or popularity contest, it is a portable music player
I remember a lot of people, er Sony fanboys calling the Xbox lame once upon a time too. Where are they now?
I like the iPod and think it has more features but that is not the point. I wouldnt even bring up the history but I figured some readers out there might be curious if I\’m still using my Zune. The answer is yes. Happily

And BTW lol, you are a having a “everything is lame” day aren’t you? Earlier you were upset about having to register for a new site, now you are calling Zune lame (get in line on that one!)? What will you deem “L-A-M-E” next today?

I’ve called the Zune lame from the beginning. From your first Zune post.
And that registration is lame. You just said it in different wording.

Different strokes, different folks. It’s all subjective as I told the writer from the Chicago Sun-Times. I was fully ready to take the Zune back to the store when I bought it if I thought it was lame. I didn’t. I’m still using it. That doesn’t measure on my lame-o-meter, sorry.
But what makes this country so great is that we can all agree to disagree. Again, I’m fine being 1 in 100 that likes the Zune. Just because I like the Zune doesn’t mean I dislike the iPod which seems to be hard for some people, not you darkmoon I don’t think, to understand.

Yeah…. that’s why I like to use the word of the day for this product. L-A-M-E. I’m glad you agree that we disagree. :p

And I guess there is no “the” preceeding Zune. It’s just Zune. Not the Zune. That part is lame LOL
