Don’t drink the contaminated water |
The city just called our office with a spooky message: don’t drink the water, it’s contaminated. No, this is not a joke and I’m not kidding.

Apparently the water is contaminated in our area. I don’t have any more details yet including how far reaching the contamination is (I didn’t speak to the city official, my wife did) — and don’t see anything about this at any of the local news services yet — but am going out now to buy more bottled water just in case the water is contaminated for awhile and if there is a rush from others doing the same in our area. We already use bottled water and make our own ice (not from the tap). I’ll be back to update this post later when I learn more.
Eerie.
Update 7:42 PM PST: KOMO and KIRO vans are out at the local Safeway along with a command center of Fire Engines. It’s front page news on KOMOTV.com website as of this writing saying that the water is “possibly” contaminated. Area restaurants have all been ordered to shut down.
Did this post make you go hmm?

[…] Perhaps our town being without usable city water for 24 hours now is the main reason this who is sick mashup stuck out in the RSS reader. To use, just enter in your zip code, click on your symptom(s) and fill up the colorized pie: runny nose (red), cough (green), fever (yellow), headache (black), muscle ache (orange), stomach ache including diarrhea, nausea and vomit (black). Yipes! Is that groundwater, or public water system, or both?

Public water system. Just got the word today that all is well again. Very surreal past couple days though. Definitely hmm inspiring.

I guess there must have been a run on bottled water in your area…

We went to a local pure water dealer and bought 25 gallons. We already buy bottled water, the part that sucked was for showers. Thank goodness it’s over now, we were planning on going to a hotel tonight if it wasn’t resolved.

Any word yet as to what the contaminant was?

Even more eerie is the lack of details coming out about what actually happened.
I haven’t seen or heard any official explanation other than the “possibility” of contamination. Somebody trespassed, broke into the water facility and did something to the water but I haven’t seen anybody explain what prompted the health department to close the system and give the alert not to use the water. Not just drink, but not use the water in any way. Irritates me that they knew about this on Sunday and didn’t say anything until Monday. The minute they knew the water tests came back unsafe they should have immediately started notifying people and yet it took them nearly another 12 hours before they actually did something.

[…] The water drama in town is over, the water is now declared “good” again. Might be cliched but it is true how we take for granted the simple things in life until they are gone. We had to shut off the water at the pipes to stop ourselves during the “possibly contaminated” period from using it. You go to brush your teeth and it’s just natural to crank on the faucet. […]
