Ozzy lets Black Rain fall in stores on May 22 on Epic records |

After listening to the 15 samples of Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming album entitled Black Rain, I already miss the old Ozzy, the Black Sabbath and early solo Ozzy with Randy Rhoads. His voice sounds at least an octave lower and out of sync which was the way he sounded the last time I heard him live at Ozzfest. There isn’t enough of his singing to see if he does anything truly old school with his vocals in the brief samples so a full Hmm review will need to wait until May 22 or later, but it’s a given that we can expect some killer riffs from master axeman Zakk Wylde.
You can also login to Ozzy.com and navigate around as a bat listening to various Black Rain and Ozzy laughing clips in a creative but somewhat annoying Flash interface and sign up to receive email on Ozzy’s new album.
Bring on the Black Rain.

you guys suck, from the samples that i heard this album is going to be amazing. Just as good as ever ozzy and zakk.

Chris - it wasn’t a full review, just an impression based on the brief clips. Definitely not enough time to draw a complete opinion so hold off the fanboy talk until I actually review the album and say it sucks or is great. I’m buying the CD as soon as I see it in stores.

When first heard title track, “Don’t Wanna Stop” on radio was unaware of this release. Am now counting days ’til I can buy it. Been a Sabbath fan since Paranoid, fav is “Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath. Will reserve any opinions until then, but sounds damn good to me!!

Where did anybody here say it “sucks” Chris? Have heard only the brief clips on the website. I’ll be buying Black Rain when it comes out and will listen to it before saying it is awesome, sucks or somewhere in between. Not too much longer to wait now!

[…] The overall CD strikes me as better than Ozzy’s last studio effort (Down to Earth). It’s better than Down To Earth, but it’s not quite on par with No Rest for the Wicked or anything with Jake E. Lee or Randy Rhoads on guitar. Apologies in advance to the blind Ozzy faithful who will undoubtedly show up in the comments below to tell me how much I suck, but I kind of wish Ozzy would have tried something different musically. Maybe Buckethead (if only Ozzy would have hired him) and Zakk Wylde doing some kind of dueling guitar riff thing a la Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden would have coaxed something magical out of the Ozzman’s pipes. Ok everyone, Ozzy smokes (and is nearing 60!)…therefore his voice is (and has been since about 1983) getting lower and lower. However, this is NO WAY takes away from his exotic, one-of-a-kind, bizzare voice from the 4th dimention! I absolutely love his voice, and will always buy his stuff. Zakk could kinda lay off the squeals a little bit (I mean, we get the point, he likes the ‘wah wah’ pedal, and squealing) but I’m way happier hearing the creativity that it sounds like he used in the previews than I have been in the past hearing what sounded like just plain old heavy, low pitched ‘durge-riffs’. I love how Randy and Jake used to utilize the whole fretboard for the sake of writing main riffs to the songs they worked on. I also like how Ozzy has been doing different speed songs unlike Ozzmosis, where every song (except Perry Mason) seemeed to be the same speed, slow. Ozzy just needs to f*cking rock out w/his big fat Rock-n-Roll c*ck out! (and so does Van Halen if they ever want to put themselves back on the map again)
