Teens on text messaging |
Hmmcast #88 mp4
Our son hadn’t heard of Twitter and none of his friends use it either. Learn what they do use through the web, it might surprise you. Kind of surprised me.

i knew kids loved doing this, but i would be too frustrated with the speed and using the keys. a couple of my friends text me now and again- i just call them. i mean after all, it’s a phone.

Texting seems like it would take longer typing all the characters. Just say it, it is faster and also has expression. You can’t tell if I’m happy or sad by just looking at words.

Yeah, but what teens are doing with phones is a new form of consciousness.
It’s a brave new world.

Go figure. text messaging is taken off with younger people. Pretty interesting. They’re finally taking something that’s been huge in Asia and Europe. Fastest texter in the world was some young girl. I think she was like 13 or something. They set her up against some 80 yr old guy that did Morse Code a while back.

I mean that the consciousness is a brave new world, because people in the U.S. have been so slow to pick it up.
It must be an interesting exercise to text message in Pinyin, the romanized version of Mandarin Chinese.
