My wife loves to read and wanted to go to Value Village recently and get a bunch of books. I picked out a few and one of them was The Road Ahead by Bill Gates. The CD-ROM that accompanied the book curiously had never been opened. I took a razor blade to it and then put the CD in the drive.

Did you try right click on the .exe ->properties->compatibility->”Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows95″ Sometimes that helps. If after its installed you can also try that on the .exe that fires the application

I didn’t until you mentioned it, but none of the compatibility modes work [screenshot] including running as Windows 95.
