Can’t find a domain? Try a domain hack |

Is the domain you want gone? Xona.com allows searching for domains in weird variations like del.icio.us when delicious.com was taken. Personally I think these weird domains are more annoying to type/remember than useful and cool, but it’s mildly entertaining distraction conducting vanity searches.
Go ahead and register my name in Indonesia, if you want. Thanks Amit.
Business tip: stick to .com, .net (as long as you understand you’ll lose traffic to the .com version of your domain) and .org (if you are a non-profit) and don’t waste your time and money on other TLDs. I suppose maybe if you are a Canadian site .ca might work or in the UK using .uk, but really the .com is best.
I’m sure some domain registrars will disagree, but look through your own bookmarks and see how many sites you have bookmarked with TLDs other than .com, .net and .org. I did exactly that with my incomplete del.icio.us (ironic, isn’t it?) list and learned the following:
155 .com
12 .net
10 .org
06 .us
03 .uk (UK)
01 .ca (canada)
00 .tv
————-
187 total
And don’t listen to people saying that all the good, low digit .com addresses are gone. That’s bogus. I registered a good six digit domain recently.
Did this post make you go hmm?
