Vonage stock heading under $5? |

Things continue to go miserably on the Vonage stock front, see Google finance for VG, where January has seen the stock at the lowest point to date. While we still use one Vonage business account with fax in our offline business we moved to Skype for our online biz last summer. I wonder how many other Vonage customers have left for other VoIP solutions either partially like us or completely?
Andy at VoIP is disappointed in Vonage’s lack of innovation:
They can claim all they want to that they can do anything, but with so many 2.0 companies out there like clients Grand Central, iotum, PhoneGnome and others like Roam4Free, Jangl, Skype, GizmoProject, Yahoo, etc. really innovating, not simply bringing the PSTN or PSTN era service to IP, but really looking at how 2.0 applies to voice I’m amazed the Vonage Board of Directors isn’t calling for someone’s head.

I continue to get updates from Marketwatch on the price (above) and while it had a small resurgence, it has mostly trended downward since the IPO. Note how it compares to the S&P 500 over the same period of time (1 year). The S&P has had a +13.13% return while Vonage is -56.35%. Ouch.

That’s true. There’s so much you can do with the integration of services. The whole voicemail to email is cool, but why not go further? They’ve been pretty much the same forever. The interface could use some work too.
There’s a lot to be had at Vonage. I just got someone close to me onto it and she loves it. But stuff like sending out ATAs with battery backup, or router replacements that have batt backup, or anything similar. Or you can integrate with Skype for premium services, or IM to voicemail, text to voicemail… the possibilities are endless.
Heck, how about minutes that rollover? Or hardware that transfers between cellular to Vonage (I know this can be done since I have the hardware).
It’s a matter of innovation always, not just starting, and stagnating. Believe me. My employer has felt the whole “stagnation” thing. It wasn’t pretty. Wall Street was happy when the CEO was asked to step down.

[…] Until this morning, and pondered back in January, the lowest Vonage stock (VG) had gone was $5.02. […]
