Yeah, our group blogging site upgrade resulted in some plugin-relatd problems. It uses a few plugins that aren't supported, thus later (today hopefully) I need to run down those database calls and fix them, if the plugin authors haven't already fixed them of course (and it appears several have not unfortunately).

I'd check the plugin compatibility list against what you are using first and then see if you can get the correct versions installed. If you aren't using any plugins with database calls, you probably are ok even if they aren't on the compatibility list.

Would also recommend setting up another test blog rather than use a primary one, Sterling, just in case things go haywire. It will probably be awhile before I install at this blog, if ever. This WP version is fairly well customized these days and I'm sure will be broken in several places when upgraded. Going to wait for that one, especially if a new major version will be available in a couple months. I might just skip to that version instead if it offers another 500+ bug fixes.

Well, you made me go hmm again. I was planning to install 2.1 locally first to check it out, but maybe I'll just upgrade and see what hits the fan. Did you have any challenges at all with the upgrade?

askimet has been fairly efficient for me so far- in any case, my upgrade went smooth- and i agree whole-heartedly about WordPress's self-competition. maybe i should keep copies of my old versions on hand.

Yeah... now if only Akismet worked worth a damn, then I'd be happy. Coming from MT side of things, I still don't see anything special about WP besides more plugins. Some of those plugins, are pretty friggin cool, but from a stock perspective, I'm still partial to the MT interface.
