Let is snow, let it snow, let it snow |

Let it snow.
When I was younger the first snowfall was one of the most exciting times of the year. While passing into working years, I don’t stop enough and take in nature. Something about learning (youth) and yearning (old age) that are different with nature than the earning years?
This morning I broke away from work for a few minutes to stare outside, watching the snowflakes fall and stick for the first time of the year. For a moment the realization that I’m at the middle point of life expectancy and if I live it out, half my time on this wonderful earth is now gone. I might have seen half the first snowfalls I’ll ever see on this earth.
Let it snow.
Life is a bit like snowflakes falling lazily from the sky. Kiss the ground and start the melting process. Deep thoughts for a Monday Wednesday morning, I guess, but who doesn’t like watching first snowfalls? As a child, didn’t you look forward to snow? I bet our children are staring out the classroom windows hoping that school will be called. They don’t play in the snow as much any more as they are getting older now.
What I don’t look forward to are the people who can’t drive in the snow and ice. In Wisconsin where I graduated from high school, they were much better about driving in inclimate weather than out here. Different kind of snow here in the Pacific Northwest though. It’s more damp and slippery. Slow down. Live. Love.
Actually, anticlimax, this is not the first snowfall today, and everything writtena bove was written during the actual first snowfall awhile back and doesn’t apply to the second major snowfall of the year — today. I was waiting for another snowy day when school was cancelled to add a snowy retrospective. Today originally started as a two hour delay and has since been expanded to a full snow day. Our kids are going to be going to school clear into August if we keep having weather outages this school year. Here’s a picture of the streets today:

Is there anything more serene looking in winter nature than a fresh snowfall? Let it snow …
Did this post make you go hmm?

It started here a couple of hours ago, but now seems to have tapered off. Still falling on your side?

Nope, it has subsided, but it’s pretty cold out there. I hope ice doesn’t prevent school tomorrow, the kids have missed a lot of school this year so far.
