Bagpiper meltdown during late President Ford’s ceremony |
Talk about a meltdown. Perhaps my favorite part is the commentary at the end of the video. I laughed out loud with the commentator saying it was “beautiful playing of Amazing Grace by a Bagpiper.”
I know this was intended to be a touching tribute and it’s inappropriate to make jokes over something at a ceremony like this, but the bagpiper … well, just watch the video and you decide. It’s hard not laughing. Bagpipers everywhere doth protest!
Thanks Macenstein, who is one of my new 2007 subscriptions, BTW.
Did this post make you go hmm?

TDavid, if it’s inappropriate, then why did you post it? i personally would request that you remove this post. my opinion of this site has just been lowered several notches.

Sorry that the bagpiper’s breathless toot didn’t make you smile, matt, but the answer to your request is no.
It was clearly marked and presented as humor — not the funeral, not the ex President — but the dude playing at his funeral. Apparently we have different tastes of humor, I guess, if you don’t find the bagpiper’s version of Amazing Grace to be amazingly bad and humorous.
I should have written “some people may find this inappropriate but I don’t.”
This world has become all too PC, unfortunately, matt. If you want to laugh at a bad musician at my funeral and post about it on your blog I encourage you to do so. If it makes me laugh I might find some way to come back from the dead and laugh along with you
If you want my SERIOUS opinion on this situation then here it is: I think this was downright embarassing having a bagpiper at a funeral event that can’t play, especially if it was meant to honor a fallen President. I’m not disrespecting the dead President in this post, I’m ribbing the bagpiper.
I mean you no disrespect personally, matt, and appreciate you taking time to share your views but the post will stay as is, unedited. If others agree with you that it was in poor taste I’ll take that in check for future editorial reference.
Others are welcome to and encouraged, as always, to chime in and tell me what they think.
