24 jumps the silver spoon by hiring Ricky Schroder |
Let’s hope fellow 24 fans that former child star and Silver Spooner Ricky Schroder has a very small bit part in my favorite spy show in years 24.
Now, Schroder will get to suit up in body armor (or a hoodie) as CTU operative Mike Doyle, and help our man Jack out of this scrape or that.
I wonder if Arnold Jackson (Gary Coleman) is still kicking it, maybe he can be Jack Bauer’s new boss. Since we’re still TV-less, we’ll have to catch Ricky, er Mike Doyle, in action this year of 24 online either through the iTunes store or elsewhere (multiple legal TV online watching options these days) or wait for the DVD.
The Blogcritics author humorously suggests Screech might be another good hire. Let’s hope 24 doesn’t turn into farce, but it might already be there.
Did this post make you go hmm?

To be fair, he was on NYPD Blue for a couple years.

Jimmy - it points that out in the first part of the linked Blogcritics post. He’s not a cop, he’s typed as the rich kid from Silver Spoons, but maybe I’m wrong and he has better range. Never seen him on NYPD Blue (never seen that show period), was he any good there or just a bit part actor?

He was actually pretty good on NYPD Blue. No Emmy, but I never felt like I was back in the mid 80s.

I should say he was a main character opposite Dennis Franz. He was a critical part of the show for the 3 years he was on it.

Look for yourself. The only YouTube video I could find. Not much to go on, but at least you can see him.

Ricky was quite good in NYPD Blue, but he pulled a “disappearing” act and they had to write him off really quickly. Never found out if he got fired or flaked out.
Also he really grew up and away from those Silver Spoon days when he did Lonesome Dove with Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall. YES! he was in that mini series!

Lonesome Dove, wasn’t that the western by Larry McMurty? I’m not a western fan. Didn’t see that one either.
