[EXPIRED] If you can get through watch videos and get free Vista and Office 2007, limited offer! |

A free shipped version of Windows Vista business edition and Microsoft Office 2007 for watching six videos and giving up your contact info and email address (and Microsoft will 1099 you if you want both) is available for a limited time at powertogether.com1. I’ve been there trying to watch the videos over the last 24 hours at varying times and things are moving very slowwww. My guess is a lot of people are trying to take advantage of this limited time offer and hosing the experience at the same time. I wanted to verify that the offer worked before linking it here, but if too much more time goes by the offer will probably be gone. Maybe you will have better luck than I.

You’ll need to use Internet Explorer 6.x or better and download a Live Meeting replay client in order to watch the videos. After that’s it is a matter of waiting for the videos to load and play. Easier said than done. A great offer if only it was working better. I tried on my Tablet PC and no luck so far there either.
Nathan2 provided the tip and it seemed to work for him. If any readers try it and it works for you, please let the rest of us know the secret to your success.

I’ve been able to get in and watch the videos. It is frustrating at times, but it does work. For those that think this is a phishing site, JK On The Run verified that it is really an MS site.

You have to do anything special to get the videos to play, Fred? I was able to download the videos and watch them but whenever I login it says “pending” for the watched videos. All the money in free software promotion and yet they can’t scale to the demand. What a shame for a great deal if/when it works.

This wasn’t a very ringing endorsement of how the .NET framework and ASP .NET will scale.
It takes a few hours for the videos to show completed. If they’re showing pending right now you’re doing OK.
Don’t forget the tax consequences if you take them up on both offers.

The Windows Vista offer is now showing as Sold Out…

So is the office offer. I don’t know if that means they had enough people complete the videos and are getting the stuff, or there have been enough people registered that can potentially get all the stuff.

I never got past the pending stage.

I did some yesterday morning. 2 of the 3 are now completed, the 3rd is still pending. Check again.
It also appears that if you signed up and choose a ‘gift’ while they were available, you can still get the gift if you complete the videos in the 30 day period.
The website seems reasonably well behaved this morning.
I’d be real curious to find out how many copies they allocated and how many people signed up.
On a different (but related) note, if you were a beta tester for Vista and reported a bug, they sent out the link to get the keys for the free copy yesterday.

[…] It’s funny, earlier today on the way to lunch I was telling Kara that I’ve decided not to buy Office 2007 when it comes out at the end of this month, and then I get home and see the article mentioned below. We didn’t buy Office 2003 either, instead receiving multiple copies in exchange for beta testing Microsoft products at Redmond headquarters, and that’s how we’re planning on getting Office 2007. In fact, already one license is in the hopper for watching some Microsoft videos. […]

[…] Sweet. Toward the end of November, Microsoft had an offer to get a free copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional and/or Microsoft Windows Visa Business. I registered and signed up for the videos, but it was right after Thanksgiving week and had exams and homework. By time I got around to actually watching the videos, the site said they were all out, unless you already signed up. I crossed my fingers. I got this email yesterday: Dear Andrew: […]

[…] The following opportunity will undoubtedly be easier than watching videos from overburdened Microsoft servers just to get a free access code to download Office 2007 Professional and Office Groove 2007 (thanks Lester). This will require your time and travel to a Ready for a New Launch 2007 meeting where you’ll need to sit through several likely boring product overviews breakout events and a standard Microsoft rah-rah speech executive keynote. A link along the right hand side of the official website opens a PDF file with the full agenda (PDF) that runs from 8-noon (checkout begins at 7am) or 1-5 (checkout begins at noon). […]

My Free copy of Vista has arrived
Back in November I spent a little time watching videos to get a free copy of Windows Vista. (Thanks to Things That Make you Go Hmm! ) I did watch all the required video, but maybe MS is only giving out one or the other? I’m sure there were limi…
