Black Friday madness

holidays, travel — by TDavid @ 10:40 am PST

Black Friday

My wife wanted to brave the Black Friday shopping storm this morning. I’m not experienced at this because I despise shopping in huge crowds, but I did learn something from the experience:

  • bring Walki-Talkies or cell phones with that type functionality. You will lose your group in the swarm
  • have a gameplan in advance and know where in the store these items will likely be placed
  • have one person be the cart sentry and let the other(s) scour for the deals
  • the earlier you arrive, the better
  • park out of the way, use the least used entrance and exit

What did we buy? Can’t say yet — presents — kids read this blog. Guess that’s the 2006 equivalent of tearing the edge of the wrapping on the present and hoping your parents won’t notice.

Any readers brave the crowds this morning? Or planning on hitting the stores later? We stopped by Best Buy briefly but the cash register line snaked around the entire inside of the store — screw that.

Did this post make you go hmm?

  1. My wife wants me to go out to Ace for a 50% off deal. I’m doing my best to evade.

  2. I swore I wouldn’t do it and then I stepped foot out the door on Black Friday. Best Buy was a zoo and Circuit City was just as bad. I am not going back!
