Matthew sent me an IM via GTalk this morning that he's got Megite setup to handle dynamic OPML files now. What I like about the newspaper is it only uses your OPML for sources and can link out to others you aren't subscribed to, therefore giving you other possible sources you can subscribe to. Essentially it allows anyone to create their own techmeme-like site using the sources they are subscribed to as a base. That's a hot feature and gets over the whole "only A-listers need apply" stuff.

As for watching when your site is linked on Megite, couldn't you just setup a script to watch the main megite RSS feed and log what posts where you are linked? I bet somebody has already cooked up something like that out there somewhere. If not, could be a cool plugin/widget/yada.

RE: the related posts plugin - I tried using the related posts plugin and it didn't work as well (lots of unrelated results) as the <a href="http://rmarsh.com/2006/10/04/similar-posts/">similar posts</a> plugin which indexes title and post content. We are using it here pretty much default with a minor theme customization for number of words.

Hey TDavid, not sure why your comment didn't get through. It didn't go to moderation, but if Akismet nailed it with a false positive there's a good chance I would have missed it. Akismet only shows you the first 200, and there doesn't seem to be a way to view the rest. Sorry about that.

Yes, I have been in private contact with Matthew about the personal Megite. I wanted to use it to get a feed of when one of my posts shows up on Megite, but it doesn't seem to want to work for that purpose. Kinda nice though to have a newspaper that also gets links to related stories.

BTW, do you use a WordPress plugin for your "Related Posts" or did you roll your own in your theme code?

Haven't had time yet to put up Reblog, but I did watch your screencast and it does look pretty efficient. FeedDemon works well for me, though, so I've got bigger fires to put out first.
