Clinton interviewed on Fox for the first time

Hot points and permalinks from Fox interview with former President Clinton who gets excited and rightly so:

- [4:00] why didn’t you do more to put bin laden out of business?
- [9:00] Clinton admits what he can be criticized for relating to Bin Laden
- [12:50] Clinton: “I tried and failed to get Bin Laden. But I did try.”

Man, I wish Bill Clinton was President again. The last eight six (Update: ok, I screwed up, it has seemed like eight years, or I wish it has been) years politically have sucked. Yeah, I can’t wait for others to show up in the comments to remind me about Clinton’s morals and how he lied to all of us about sex. I’d rather talk oval office blow jobs with interns than our brave women and men having their arms and legs being blown off in Iraq.

Update 9/26/2006 8:39am PST: via Northwest Florida Daily News:

“Fox News Sunday” drew its best ratings in nearly three years for this weekend’s electric confrontation between former President Clinton and newsman Chris Wallace.

  1. My issue with Clinton is the squandered potential. Most of his 2nd term was wasted on Monicagate when he could’ve shut the whole thing down by simply admitting what he had done and acknowledging that it was improper. The media was primed & ready for him to deny it. But if he’d met it head-on and in a brtually honest manner, the media would’ve really have had nowhere to go. Then he could’ve spent that much more productive time on important stuff.

Kinda like he piddled away so much time & effort denying that he’d smoked pot. Oh, c’mon! Why didn’t he simply admit that, yes, he did try it, and golly, what a stupid adolescent thing that was to do? He could’ve morphed a minor personal blemish into a tremendous professional asset - turning a laughable denial into a frank but effective anti-drug campaign .

I’ve just very frustrated over the tremendous potential he wasted on pointless and unbelievable denials that continually undercut his public persona and Presidential effectiveness. Think of how much more he could’ve done for this country, for this own Presidential legacy, and for his politcal future had he only shown some accountability and kept his personal actions from bleeding over so strongly into his professional life.

  2. Rob - that’s an astute and fair evaluation. Can’t disagree with anything you said there, except maybe to add that he did do some very good things with reversing the trend of the national debt. He was one of the few Presidents in the last century that didn’t spend more than he had. We need more presidents like that, democrat, Republican or whatever party.

  3. No, I’m with ya on the good that Clinton did. It just chaps me to imagine how much -more- good he could’ve done if he’d actually had a second term - that is, if he hadn’t blown 90% of his second term on Monicagate. And consider the vast amounts of taxpayer money wasted during that whole sordid mess.

Morals and all aside, if you’re gonna screw around with interns, then at least have the fortitude to own up to the deed when caught.

  4. I totally agree with you. We need another Clinton-type. Those were the days.

  5. Though i believe in keeping personal affairs personal, its the fact that his morals were not equivalant to US leadership. Then on top of that, he lied to all of America’s face about it. Yes he did have a chance to take out Bin Laden but he gave up before the job was finished. By giving up, he accomplished nothing. Bill Clinton was an idiot.

See Bush on the other hand, im not saying hes the best president either; but atleast he has the guts and determination to finish the job that Bill failed to accomplish. And ya’ll need to stop being so retarded and liberal. Yes, we have people getting injured and loosing their lifes in the war, but its for a greater cause. Not only are we taking out a big terrorist threat, but were freeing a country that has been through far more devistations then our own. And you know as well as i do that at the beginning of this war, everyone was like, we got to get those bastards back. We got to take out the terrorist and free that country. and once Bush finishes that job, we wont have that threat anymore, and they will become our allie. So put that in your back pocket. The reason that you think Bush is doing such a bad job is cause hes having to turn around everything that Bill Clinton had mest up. What an idiot Bill was to cut our military down and reduce our boarder control.

anyways, im getting frustrated so im going to stop. oh and by the way, If you dont like the way this country is ran, then get the hell out of it.

And Dont even give me that bull about Kerry would have done everything better. He was a total idiot. He didnt know which side he wanted to take, his stories kept changing. He was topsy turvy. He lied about being a war hero. and all of his purple hearts were from self-inflicted wounds. Do you really want an someone like that running our country.

  6. Bush “has the guts and determination to finish the job”?! That remains to be seen.

“retarded”?! Not a cool or very intelligent thing to say.

We haven’t done anything to reduce terrorism and Iraq is in worse shape than ever. Wake up man.

So Clinton lied about getting a blow job. You would too.

“If you dont like the way this country is ran, then get the hell out of it.” That’s absolutely stupid. We’ve got to agree with everything this administration does or leave? Did you leave when Bill Clinton was president? Apparently not.
