Zakk Wylde more involved with new Ozzy album |
I was a little surprised there was ever any doubt who would be Ozzy’s guitarist on his new studio album. I guess Buckethead was checked out briefly but just too far out there even for the guy who once snorted ants with Motley Crue.
If studio magic can fill in for what’s left of Ozzy Osbourne’s vocals in February 2007 the Ozzman could be releasing a much more impressive CD than Down To Earth.
“We have, like, twenty songs completed man, and I had everything to do with this album, including all the riffs and the mellow shit. I mean everything. That’s the way it should be done. Not like last time around! (2001’s ‘Down To Earth’, where Wylde was simply a session guitarist, with no songwriting contributions towards the album) My track record speaks for itself.
It’s good to read that Zakk Wylde is being better utilized this time around. If you haven’t heard his new Black Label Society CD and hard driving guitar rock turns you on get on over to iTunes or Amazon or your favorite music store and buy it now. His guitar will tear you apart in solos like the hauntingly melodic “Lead Me To Your Door.” Wylde is the hard working man’s guitarist, sort of like what Tony Iommi did in Sabbath all those years but adding vocals. Wylde just keeps coming up with great riffs and frenetic fretting.
When asked about Wylde’s talent, Ozzy replied: “Right now there’s not another rock guitarist alive who can go toe-to-toe with Zakk Wylde. He’s in a class all by himself.”"
Did this post make you go hmm?

I saw Ozzy with Zakk playing at Merriweather Post Pavilion sometime in the late 80’s early 90’s (pothole) but got to see the tour bus and even got a ride out of symphony woods, he was a nice respectful dude, and showed us a video of Ozzy & Geraldo Rivera (my friend was hanging with the drummer - may he rest in peace if my info’s correct)that I believe never aired and was most likely pasted together, but the kicker was getting dropped off in front of the 2 most bit-hy bartenders at HammerJacks (Balt.MD)I’ll NEVER forget that or the looks on their faces, and for the record, there was NO hanky panky, just some Molsons if I remember correctly.
PEACE
