Warlock drops me an email about Meebome |

My friend and Hmm reader Warlock over at The Metal Show dropped me a line today about Meebome, a widget for Meebo [Hmm review] which combines AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo in an AJAX powered menu. I’m running the widget below with a chatroom inside this blog post. Feel free to check it out, just like I am below, or add to your own website if you have one.
We’ve tried out other chat inside blog deals like this before, namely with mobber here, what makes this different (I think, still checking it out) is that you can tap in with your AIM, ICQ, MSN or Yahoo login. I was thinking of events where a chatroom might make sense and one that comes to mind is a baseball game. Like say the Mariners are having a game and we needed a quick and dirty chat to talk about the Mariners on the blog. This could be one area where I could see it would make sense. Chatrooms are good for group conversation where you don’t need to save or reference the discussion, but I usually prefer blog comments so there is some record and also so the search engines will index the comments.
In a chat on somebody else’s server who knows where that information ends up and/or whether it will be something you can reference in the future.
Did this post make you go hmm?
