An update to my ongoing printer friend saga that began yesterday. The technician came out this morning but knew very little about the networking stuff. My friend who works in a print shop in Wisconsin tried helping me. I was told that the setting in the printer for the IP address couldn’t be changed, which turned out to be bogus information.

Long story short, I figured out how to change the static IP to be in the router IP range and was able to get one of his two computers to print to it.

The other printer now keeps responding that the “printer spool isn’t running” when in fact in the services it is running. I’m home for lunch and then back to try and get the second printer running.

He was able to get his one print job out to the client that was waiting and is working on his others so at the end of the day I was able to get him going. The RSS stuff continues to backup, but I should be able to get to that later, I’m glad the guy has a printer.
