Yes you can, says Team Hoyt |

Until today, I had never heard of the story of Dick and his son Rick Hoyt (thanks Digg). As I grow older I’m more easily drawn to tears but this story would have made me cry when I was younger.
For the past twenty five years or more Dick, who is 65, has pushed and pulled his son across the country and over hundreds of finish lines. When Dick runs, Rick is in a wheelchair that Dick is pushing. When Dick cycles, Rick is in the seat-pod from his wheelchair, attached to the front of the bike. When Dick swims, Rick is in a small but heavy, firmly stabilized boat being pulled by Dick.At Rick’s birth in 1962 the umbilical cord coiled around his neck and cut off oxygen to his brain. Dick and his wife, Judy, were told that there would be no hope for their child’s development.
Dick and his wife Judy would hear none of that and brought their son home and have worked with him, trying to include him in as much of their lives as possible. With the help of some technology he was able to communicate. Written off by doctors at the time but not by love. An amazing, inspirational story.
As the screenshot shows above Team Hoyt are using Google Calendar to show where they will be. They have completed 911 events together.
I just had to go hug all three of our sons after reading the story of the Hoyt’s and watching the video above.
Did this post make you go hmm?

How inspirational. Jeez, I’m not even a dad yet and already I feel inadequate.
If this guy isn’t winning the “Father of the Year” aware nearly each and every year, well, there’s just something wrong with this world.
Thanks for sharing, David. I read this blog entry early today and this story has stuck with me all day.

I watched the video early this morning and since then i have watched it 10 times, cried 10 times and have basically been blown away. i’ve been on the computer all day long searching the internet for more infomation on these two wonderful people. I am in awe of Dick. What an amazing man and what love he has for his boy. God will bless both of them on the next life. maybe Dick will be sitting and Rick will be running. LOL. I don’t even know them but i can honestly say that i love them both.
