Today only some green from your wallet for a Google Checkout T-shirt |

Want to jumpstart your checkout service, just kick in a free t-shirt, or so that’s Google’s plan:
Everyone who buys something for $20 or more through Google Checkout all day today gets a free T-shirt. So find something you want to buy, enjoy faster checkout online — and make room in the drawer for your new apparel.
The first time I mentioned Google Checkout Jeremy Wright tried buying something and only met with frustration.
Our household expert online shopper, AKA my wife, went on the case this morning and found a griddle she wanted to buy for $24. She balked at the $12.97 shipping and handling charge. Yowsa, that’s like a 50%+ charge, Google (not Google’s fault what the businesses using Google Checkout charge). She said she’s never paid that much at Amazon for similar merchandise. She’s now looking for something else.
Let us know if you took the Google Checkout T-shirt plunge today only August 10, 2006.
Update 10:15am PST: My wife settled on a backpack as part of the back to school shopping. No shipping from buy.com which she liked.

I struck my complaint above toward Google about the shipping & handling charges. Those aren’t Google’s fault, they are the business using the service.
Did this post make you go hmm?

[…] TDavid writes that, for today only, any purchase of $20 or more on Google Checkout will get you a free Checkout t-shirt. Take a look at the offer page, which says that any $20 purchase using Google’s Checkout system, including at many well known online stores (like Buy.com, uBid or the StarbucksStore) before 11:59 Pacific (2:59 am Eastern) will net a large size Google Checkout shirt. Shame that the shirt only comes in large, or I might be more innarested, since a svelte fella like me doesn’t need to throw on some oversize shirt. […]
