Ride the Whitening, Metallica finally on iTunes |

Saw the Metallica on iTunes news announced several places yesterday (first here, thanks Gerald) and planned to check when I had a few minutes on the only place I have iTunes installed: my Mac. I don’t have an iPod and am not really that interested in buying one, although I did buy one once upon a time and returned it and paid the restocking fee. Why? I didn’t and still don’t travel enough places where a portable music player could/would be used that much.
To date, I’ve bought a grand total of two tracks on iTunes but I do like the idea that Metallica didn’t just throw their library up there without some additional thought:
Since many fans already have our albums in one form or another, but might still want to check out the digital versions, we decided to throw a couple of previously unreleased live tracks (Seattle, ‘89) on to each of the first four albums (Kill ‘Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, & …And Justice For All).
For those curious, this isn’t the first downloadable music Metallica has offered for sale online. They have been offering digital downloads — mp3 with no DRM — of some of their concerts via their own site livemetallica.com since March 2004.
Did this post make you go hmm?

I want to get that whole show from 89….I think they sent it out to fan club members a couple of years ago as part of their “Fan Can” series….
Any Hmm readers that might have that fan can…holler out!
