MLB 2006 Homerun Derby in Second Life sold out |
Just refreshed the page at the SL Boutique and saw the tickets are now sold out for the first virtual simulcast of the MLB Homerun Derby at 5pm SL time (PST) tonight. There will be live streaming video inside the virtual ballpark during the event according to the Electric Sheep Company.

Earlier today, I was at the field taking a bunch of pictures of the field.

I’d been curious before how many tickets were available and if the above proposed seating is any guide then there were 63 seats / tickets available in the sim (7 groups of 9 seats). See the stadium seating layout above.

From the seats to the outfield.

Outside the MLB 2006 All Star virtual shop.

Foam fingers anyone? The script wasn’t working right for this one, so I’ll have to get these later.

Plenty of free popcorn, hotdogs and cold beer cups available. No bottles to throw down on the field, just like real baseball stadiums.

Eight teams are represented as far as selling baseball caps (L$75 each) and unfortunately the Seattle Mariners are not one of them. Hopefully later some Mariners caps will be available for sale. We don’t really have any bombers on our team. Too bad there wasn’t a hitting contest because Ichiro would likely mop up with that one.

Those who have purchased tickets are encouraged to arrive virtually at the stadium at least 15 minutes early. An access list will allow only those with tickets into the event. Quicktime 7 is required to play the video.
Did this post make you go hmm?

[…] Until this point I’d been looking forward to the first ever virtual MLB Homerun Derby simulcast. Saddened by DM’s loss, I still pressed on and visited the event on schedule. I did pause first to call an agent friend of mine. My thought was I’d check the game out for a little while and then slip away quietly. […]
