Beach blogging |
Saturday morning we took off for our first of several mini getaways, this one to Ocean Shores. We had no reservations or plans really beyond “we’re beach bound” and the second motel we stopped at surprisingly had a poolside room with full kitchen facilities for $139 a night available.

It was kind of awkward having TVs with VCRs built-in, but we weren’t planning on staying in the room and watching TV. Being able to sit out with the ocean in the distance was wonderful.

A well-worn trail led through the sandy dunes to the beach.

And there it was, the waves rolling in the distance. Cars and trucks drove by where the sand was well packed.

At the moist edge my son leaned down and wrote his name with a plastic shovel in the sand. This gave me an idea for a different type of blogging: beach blogging. Write your message in the sand, snap a picture of it and then wait for time to roll the sea in and reset the sandy canvas.

Ahh the smell of that salty, cool air and sounds of the seagulls overhead. The written tsunami warnings were a little unnerving as a thought for living there permanently but a great place to visit for some R&R.
Did this post make you go hmm?

Cool. We went to Westport a couple of years ago — I love those big, empty beaches. We’re headed to Seaside, OR next weekend and hope to have a similar experience — though I think that beach may be a bit more crowded. I’ll have to try my hand at “beach blogging” there.
