Early peek at Melodeo and potential of millions and millions of new podcast listeners |
Earlier today received via a very reliable tipster source some behinds the scenes details about the podcasting service Melodeo that will be soft launching at Gnomedex here in Seattle this Friday. The tipster writes:
This new podcasting social networking website at melodeo is purely a listener focused mass market website that takes the geek out of listening to podcasts on the web and on the mobile phone. Each website listener creates a profile page with their picture, info and links. The profile page also has friends lists and podcast playlists with an always playing player that is embedded into the webpage and keeps playing as you move through the website.

The tantalizing tipster continues (emphasis mine):
This new website is really ground breaking because it makes listening to podcasts and finding interesting podcasts so easy and fun. Plus it also combines the advanced abilities of mobile phone podcast listening through Mobilcast. Melodeo is also building world wide mobile phone distribution of podcasts through Melodeo Mobilcast with major wireless carriers on mass market mobile phones. They will be having major wireless carrier distribution announcements coming soon from all over the world. This could mean millions and millions of new potential podcast listeners.
The Melodeo.com site will also have very advanced listener playlist management on the web. This advanced playlist management and future release audio bookmarking will be synchronized with the mobile experience. Melodeo.com enables a custom RSS feed with the listeners personal playlist of podcasts that can be exported and used in a podcatcher like Juice and available through iTunes and Windows Media Player. All podcast episodes come from the podcaster servers so tracking is intact.
Sounds like I’m getting a beta invite so I can check this out very soon. Coolness, thank you for the tip!
