$200 Billion Broadband Scandal ebook free until June 26, 2006

Books and Writing, travel — by TDavid @ 11:48 am PST

Bruce Kushnick, chairman and a founder of Teletruth, a national customer alliance is offering his 406 Pages, 525 Footnotes, 72 Exhibits ebook $200 billion broadband scandal in PDF format free until June 26, 2006. After that time it looks like it’s going to sell for $20 USD.

Since recent posts here on Net Neutrality sparked some passionate responses, I thought there might be additional interest in learning more about Net Neutrality and the surrounding issues. You might note that Kushnick thinks the recently proposed Net Neutrality law that was voted down was “hogwash.” Though I support the Net Neutrality bill that was voted down, I’m curious what Kushnick has to say in his book and whether it’s believable or Get Oliver Stone Now (conspiracy theorist) material.

For those concerned about where the money for past investments in better broadband connectivity went — or haven’t gone, rather — we’re being urged to read this ebook:

Time for some action and we’re putting our data where our mouth is. — The Senate has a new bill which will have terrible consequences and it needs to be stopped. Why? Customers paid AT&T, Verizon and the other Bells billions of dollars per state for open, fiber optic, 45 Mbps, high-definition video services they never received. — About $2000 per household — Where’s all the money? What happened to the networks? Should that check be made out to you?

In the past I’ve complained about telcos, starting way back to the second month of this site in August 2003 continuing on to January of this year when I posted about the 107 year old tax the feds insisted on collecting. It’s my understanding that on this year’s taxes (2007 reporting) we’ll be able to write off some of these past Federal Excise Taxes (source: tmcnet), so start collecting your old wireless phone bills.

Hat tip to Techdirt.

  1. […] On Tuesday I mentioned an ebook that focuses on a $200 billion fraud perpetrated by the telecos on the American people. This book is free for download until Monday and worth mentioning again. It will be selling for $20 USD after that. Even if you have no time right now to read it, at least go download so you can check it out later. One of my friends said he probably wouldn’t have time to read and then started commenting on it to me in IRC when he checked it out. […]
