Nearly 1 in 4 age 18-50 have a tattoo |

Motley Crue throat Vince Neil will be opening a 2,200-square-foot Tattoo parlor in Las Vegas near the Flamingo, and Neil’s timing is good as tats are going more mainstream according to a study soon to be released.
The results suggest that 24 percent of Americans between 18 and 50 are tattooed. Two surveys from 2003 suggested just 15 percent to 16 percent of U.S. adults had a tattoo.
I’d say that’s about equal to the percentage chance 24% that I’ll get a tattoo in that time period. I think tattoos are cool on some people but I’m not sure it would work for me, particularly when I’m over 50. Tattoos tend not to age well from what I’ve seen, especially for those who don’t take good care of them and have them reinked. And sorry ladies, but I find tattoos on women particularly undesirable, especially the ones on necks and around the arms and hands and across lower and upper backs visible outside the clothing.
How many readers in this age range are inked up? How’s it looking? Any regrets? Assuming this study is accurate, odds are 1:4 of you are. Go ahead and tell me about your Looks (with tat) That Kill. Want to get one? Vince Neil’s shop will be able to get you covered soon. Feel free to link up pictures of your tats if you have them in the comments.

Never had the desire. And I agree about tattoos on women. Tarty, as the Brits would say.

I don’t have the guts to get one myself, but I always thought that little tattoos of say, a flower or butterfly on a girl’s hip or lower ankle is really cute.

I’d rather listen to Air Supply than be inked. I agree with you about women with tattoos.

I am between the age of 18 and 50, and I have two tattoos…

Agree about tatoo’s on women and less is better; more on anyone diminishes the acceptability and look. What’s it cost to take one off? That’s the business to be in I think.

With all the tattoo reality tv shows, you’re almost guaranteed to see that number steadily rise. People follow pop culture. Pop culture doesn’t follow people!

I’m in that age range and I have 2 tattoos. They’re in discreet places though.
