Mariners bangers need to start banging |
One of the first things I do if I didn’t get to catch the baseball game the night before is check the scores widget on my tablet. Last night we caught Mission Impossible 3 which was better than I thought it would be (grade: b-). This morning I saw Seattle got beat 12 - 6 last night in Oakland, and just shook my head.

That was a Felix outing, and apparently his shortest outing of the season: five innings, 10 runs. Here we are in in the middle of May and our bangers, Sexson and Beltre just aren’t banging (pictured in red above).
The good news is our division, the AL West, is tight and despite the Mariners being six games under .500, they are only 4 games out of first place. A winning streak could turn things around. Good to see Ichiro starting to hit. He was 2 for 3 last night and leads the clubs in hits finally. He’ll get his 200 by season end.
How is your favorite baseball team doing this year?
Did this post make you go hmm?

It was hard to watch that game last night. Felix really needs to work on his location. Yeah, Beltre and Sexson really haven’t met expectations yet. Good thing we have Ibanez and Lopez.
On the flip side, both my wife and I enjoyed watching the Yankees come from 9 behind to beat the Rangers!

I hear that Randy Johnson is struggling, Sterling. Has he lost his mojo, or is it time for him to shatter another bird with his fastball?

Yes, Randy is struggling. During his last outing, my wife and I looked at each other and said simultaneously, “He needs to retire.” But then he started to pull it together later in the game. I think his biggest problem is he doesn’t have it out of the gate any more, and by the time he gets in the groove he’s allowed several runs.

[…] Here we are again today with six losses in a row having sent them from second place back to the cellar. On a positive note, Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre both have been hitting better since May. Richie has raised his average from a miserable .192 to not much better .220 and Adrian has gone up 40 points from .214 to .254. Ichirio is still getting a ton of hits, just one shy of 130 with one last game before the all star break. I’m hoping today they end the first half with a win. […]
