Find out if you are one of the 10,000 in Da Vinci Quest Monday |
Reports of emails being received are starting to come in for the Da Vinci Quest. Stephen writes:
… Funny the email I recieve reads as if they randomly draw the 10,000 finalist instead of getting the first 10,000 that completed it.
Rebecca is concerned:
Me too. But I received two emails…one from Sony and one from Google. After I successfully registered, I hit my back button because I became suddenly afraid that I typed my email address wrong. Hope it didn’t go through twice, then I would be disqualified for sure. Did everyone else receive two emails?
Both my wife and I received two emails each, both originating from Sony. I think it was a screwup on their part that duplicate emails went out. Or maybe they just wanted to tell us this twice, Rebecca. Here is the exact text of the message coming from Sony:
Thank you for participating in “The Da Vinci Code” Quest on Google. This email is to confirm that you have completed all 24 puzzles within the quest and successfully registered for a chance to participate in the final challenge. Well done!
We will be contacting the 10,000 finalists on Monday 5/15 via email regarding their cryptex shipment. Within that email the 10,000 finalists will also receive instructions on how to participate in the final challenge.
All remaining players who finished the quest will also receive a surprise message via email.
Thank you all for participating in “The Da Vinci Code” Quest on Google and making it such a success. We hope you enjoyed playing.
Still a mystery awaits on Monday. Who will be among the 10,000 heading toward the final challenge? Check your spam bin if you haven’t received an email like this yet.
Did this post make you go hmm?

I also got two similar emails with the same exact things written in both of them.. I have added the emails to my contact list to make sure they don’t go to the spam bin.. If the first 10,000 will be chosen according to the timestamp, I am not sure why they want us to wait till Monday!!! Anywayz, let’s see !!!

The reason they sent out the email last night was to “test” your address. They need to know that they will be able to contact the finalists at a working email address. This way, they can eliminate those that gave a fake email address, and those that can’t type.

I received two also. I’m starting to think that this is some kind of joke. A “surprise message via e-mail”?

Hey,
Does anyone thing that they might offer a free showing of the da vinci code for those who completed all the challenges sort of as a conselation prize? I can only think of either that or a peek at what Dan Brown’s new book will be about. The movie one is less likely because they could end up losing a lot of money unless google is forkin over the cash to pay for all those free tickets. I dunno, just a theory.

The surprise may be an email written by Dan Brown himself!! I don’t think it will involve any money!!

Well it’s almost 4 pm on the east coast on Monday the 15th and I still haven’t gotten any emails. You’d think they’s at least let you know if you’re in or out as a finalist.

[…] Dean from Des Moines is the first to comment that he’s received his cryptex (pictures?) from the Google Da Vinci Quest, courtesy of a call from his wife. Congratulations Dean! […]

I’ll see about pics when I get home with my wife, my camera, and my Cryptex. I hope I can get a few good pictures of it before the kids get drool and jelly on it.

One person posted a pic that was close up and it said to go to WWW.Google/DavinciCode to see if their journey continues. Every time I go there there is a server error which could mean everyone is trying to find out if they’re in the top 10K.

I received my cryptex today (Monday), and when I opened it, the scroll said to check google.com/davincicode to see “IF” my journey continues. Go there, and the page just says you’re too early. Anyway, no email yet, but I guess I’m a finalist.

Just got the email… said NOT A FINALIST!
“Though others have finished before you, your skill and perseverance will be rewarded! Click here to watch a congratulatory message from Sir Ian McKellen and a sneak peek of The Da Vinci Code and then continue on to view special offers and discounts from our Quest partners.
Thank you for playing the Da Vinci Code Quest on Google.”
Im sure TDavid will post screenshots of the email, but hey… you could buy the cryptex online so its not like its a total loss. I just wanted a cryptex… atleast I can sleep knowing the result. Congrats to the winners and good luck!

I got mine too. Don’t know how i opened it but the same go to google.com/davincicode. Also got a mail from them which shows a trailer (which people who lost also got). The link to deals from partners is different though. For the books its free shipping and 150$ off vacation package for winners and its 50$ off vacation package from orbitz for everyone else. Cant wait to try the final puzzles

DOes anyone know if the chess puzzles from the daily quests are archived anywhere online? Not just looking for how to play chess, but for the actual puzzles used in the daily quests… thanks,
Ted
