For those still skeptical about the online streaming music scene how does being able to listen — legally — free for up to five listens to any of the two million plus streaming songs in Napster’s library?

Yes … You can listen to every track in our 2,000,000 song catalog up to 5 times for FREE. That’s 10 million free plays! After the 5th free play of any single track, you can either purchase the track or become a Napster subscriber.

We’ve bounced around a bit with the legal online services trying Rhapsody, Y! Music and currently have a subscription with Napster. Our oldest teen is a music hound and uses the service frequently. I’m listening to it now as I write this and was listening to it through the Xbox 360 on Saturday. One thing I like about Napster is the ability to download the songs to your PC.Yes, they are DRM protected, but they can still be played through the Xbox 360 without Media Center which I wrote about over the weekend.

Have you or would you try an online subscription music service?

  1. For some reason I’m not motivated to pay for online music. There are a number of free streaming radio stations that provide the necessary theme music here. Might be tempted to try out free tunes on Napster, though.
