Scoble is back from vacation and continues to take up for his Microsoft Idol: Mini-Microsoft

… I think he’s doing a lot of good for the company and even if you don’t agree with that point of view if Mini were fired I’d quit on the spot. I don’t think the way you deal with dirty laundry is to get rid of the person hanging the laundry in the public square that way. Deal with the folks who are dirtying up the linen!

While I do agree with the principle of what Scoble is saying, it’s a bit more difficult getting information filtered through a blog on a competitor’s website than directly from the horse’s mouth. There is also such a thing as confidential company information, isn’t there? I mean how reliable a source is someone who is breaking the rules of the company?

I’m not going to rehash my whole Mini take because my feelings are unchanged. Mini is not a hero. While he (???) spouts about helping the company, he is tearing it down from the outside by exposing all its faults, most of which the customers don’t need to see. We don’t need to see Microsoft’s entrails in public nor do we need to hear the anonymous cries of a disgruntled (???) employee. I seriously, seriously wonder if he brings any of this up at meetings or directly to his superiors, and if he does and is being ignored then that’s a whole different story and I could maybe see taking up for his cause. Maybe.

Then again, maybe this is all a gigantic PR stunt and Scoble is being duped along with the rest of us. I don’t think Scoble would be part of any PR stunt of this magnititude — if that’s what it even is — but I generally don’t trust anonymous viewpoints. Sorry. Put some skin in the game and be credible, Mini.

Scoble, why would you want to put your job on the line for an anon? You do realize if Mini is now exposed and you don’t quit you are in a real quandary? You have no idea what this guy will say or do? Or even why he is being motivated to say these things? Do you really believe he is that interested in helping Microsoft through his blog?

Bold move, Scoble.

  1. […] And you don’t see thousands of Google employees out there blogging and I think that’s a good sign. It makes sense having a few employees here and there — who are actually good at it — but when it becomes a place for employees to bitch about what is happening, it is doing more damage than good. 2. […] Scoble has been leaving clues on his blog saying he was unhappy about his pay for quite some time now, so the reality that he is in fact leaving Microsoft to join Podtech.net shouldn’t be all that surprising to his readers. He didn’t even have to wait for Mini to be outed to backup his claim he’d quit on the spot. […]
