Amazon price comparison with Priceheat bookmarklet

add-ins and toolbars, linkdump — by TDavid @ 1:28 pm PST

They call it a widget, I call it a bookmarklet. Whatever you call it, this Priceheat browser add-in could be handy for regular Amazon shoppers.

Priceheat bookmarklet

After dragging to your browser toolbar, just visit Amazon product search as usual and then click the Priceheat bookmarklet and it returns comparison shopping deals for the same item. Above shows my Priceheat comparison results for the Twisted Sister CD I bought recently. I paid about 16 bones in the store and it looks like even after shipping I’d have saved a few pennies.

Richard MacManus calls it “simple, but useful.” I’m going to have to show this to my wife, a regular Amazon shopper.

Did this post make you go hmm?

  1. I’d like this much more as a Firefox plugin of some sort:-)

I have been buying more at Amazon recently, because of my recently acquired Amazon Visa, which gives me points on every dollar I spend, and triple points on stuff from Amazon. Every 2500 points, I get a 25 dollar cert from Amazon - not bad, not bad.

I’m generally a fan of Amazon, because I like to use their Wish List to keep track of discs I want to pick up when they hit a good price used (it’s a good way to scan the used prices quickly). For prices though, CDUniverse.com seems to consistently beat them.

New Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society coming this summer from Roadrunner Records - get ready, T!

  2. And the more I am thinking about it, it is just a sin that you paid 16 bones for Stay Hungry!

I thought that disc was pretty much “nice priced” at 9 bucks in every Wal-Mart and Target from here to Timbuktu!

  3. It’s the 2004 (?) remake, Matt, Still Hungry, not the original Stay Hungry. It’s not too bad, but some of Dee Vocals are weak.

  4. Oh right - that makes more sense now. Sheesh. I’m a big Dee fan by the way - have all the post-Twisted Sister stuff he has done…haha

  5. You know I really liked Snider in Widowmaker, what happened to them?

  6. I was going to mention Widowmaker, but didn’t want to get the digital blank stare!!

They went on “hiatus” after album number 2, due to being disappointed with the lack of sales. There was talk off and on for a few years about another album, but nothing has ever come around - Dee got wrapped up with the Strangeland movie, and then other projects. He has a solo album called Never Let The Bastards Wear Ya Down, that was pretty decent, and also a DVD that has some great footage of all sorts of Dee stuff.

There used to be a Widowmaker live vid bootleg I think, that unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be on his merch page anymore.
