To cover his debts and avoid bankruptcy the eccentric gloved one, Michael Jackson, is contemplating selling another 25% of the Beatles catalog he purchased in the 80s.

Sony owns half currently and would therefore own 75% if this deal goes through. The Beatles continue to be one of several artist holdouts on iTunes, Napster and other legal online music services. Would this deal mean that online services will finally start receiving songs from the Beatles catalog?

Update 8:41am PST: Seems like they are indeed working on remastering for digital so they can release the Beatles library.

  2. Nice headline. I’ve always thought it a travesty that Wacko Jacko held the rights to the Beatles’ tunes.
