MLB is on, how many games will Mariners win? |

Last year, I guessed the Mariners would win 80 games, the year before 85 and this year I’m going back with 85. Am I being overly optimistic? Am I being a homer? Probably, but if you want to be a fan, you be a fan and root for them to win, not lose. Game time is 2:05pm PST, and I will tuning in.
How many games will your favorite baseball team win this season?
Update 4/4/06 8:09am PST Game #1: The M’s lost the season opener 5-4, but they showed some heart and energy, something I don’t think they had enough of last year. Nice to see the first Japanese catcher in the bigs make his first hit a homerun.

C’mon, TDavid, 85 is barely over .500. I’m hoping for at least 90. Then again, what I saw in spring training doesn’t give me much hope. I’ll be taking off early today to watch the home opener, though. Moyer vs Colon, should be 0-0 after 7.

Well, the first inning wasn’t exactly stellar. Moyer gave up a 2 run homer and then Colon came in and struck out the side. Ouch! Good thing it’s a nine inning game.

I really thought we had a chance, especially after Colon buckled and we pulled within one run. I hope this isn’t the tone for the season. On the flip side, we really enjoyed watching the Yankees trounce the A’s 15-2. Actually, after a while it got pretty boring.

Some are saying the Yankees may score 1000 runs this season. They certainly have the bats, but do they have the pitching? Me thinks there’s going to be a lot of football scores in New York.

After last night, they’re on a pace to score 2430 runs for the season. Not like they could actually do that, but they certainly made a good start at 1000. You’re right about pitching. Gone are the days of Clemens and Pettite. They still have the Big Unit and Mussina, but two out of five won’t get them into the post-season — unless the bats can stay hot and they can just slug their way in.

[…] Last year the Mariners lost the season opener 5-4, but I’m picking them to win today and the total score will be more than 8.5 runs which is the Vegas spread. The game starts at 2:30pm PST. […]
