Best and worst hotel WiFi |
These days I pretty much expect to pay at least $10 USD a day at most hotels for WiFi and am pleasantly surprised to find when it is free. We’ve also stayed a few places that advertised free WiFi and turns out it’s only in the lobby. Unless you want to hang around in the lobby for hour or two or just quickly check email that’s not very worthwhile. I guess that’s the point.
Some airports have free WiFi so that improvement are being made on that front. When you travel what do you expect to pay for a broadband WiFi hotspot? What do you think is reasonable these days? Would be great if it was free everywhere, but we still are a long ways from being there yet.
Hotel chatter has done some research and shares the best and worst hotel WiFi lists.
Thanks Gizmodo.
Did this post make you go hmm?

TDavid, you got the links reversed — but that was sort of funny, actually. When we travel, we use Residence Inn, which I noticed is on the best list. Always a pretty strong signal, and it works with our wireless card right away (some hotels, like the Phoenix Inn Suites, almost always have to give you a card that matches their access point — and they charge you for it). I can even use gotomypc.com fairly well over the connection at Residence Inn. With the full kitchen and separate room for the kids, it’s almost like home.
