Seattle rave party assault, seven dead |
The big regional story of the moment is this rave party over the weekend where a man went nuts and opened fire, killing six people and then taking the coward’s way out and turning the gun on himself. via KOMO News:
Raves - dance parties that attract young people ages 16 to 24 - often are themed events where people dress up in Halloween-like outfits and paint their faces. On Friday, many were dressed like zombies in dark clothing and pale make up.It was at an early morning after-party that police say Huff, heavily armed, opened fire killing four men and two women before killing himself. Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske called the aftermath one of the biggest crime scenes in city history.
Listening to Dori Monson’s KIRO710 radio show, it seems there were girls under 18 at this house where allegedly drugs in addition to rave music were flowing freely. When I was in high school pot was the drug and that made you just want to go for the munchies and be mellow, not hit the gun cabinet. I’m not sure what is in these drugs today making some people violent? Some in the rave scene are worried that this shooting will bring undeserved scrutiny to their parties. More likely people dying will bring deserved scrutiny to any scene.
Just before the shooting spree the soon to be killer ominously spray painted “now” on the sidewalk.

Meth, coke/crack — all stimulants. Pot is a depressant, like alcohol.
